According to the research of National Geographic, the Netherlands exported 92 billion euros of agricultural products in 2017. The USA, on the other hand, is the leader in this field with 140.5 billion dollars.
The Netherlands does not reach this export rate by producing and selling every product in the country. 25.5 billion euros of this figure comes to the Netherlands as seeds, fruits and vegetables, animal and garden products from other countries and is exported to other countries after being processed in the country.
Flowers and bulbs such as tulips, carnations and roses constitute most of the agricultural products sold by the Netherlands. While milk and dairy products are in the second place, meat exports are in the third place.
A large part of the Netherlands, which is 23 times smaller than Turkey’s on average and has a land area of approximately 34 thousand square kilometers, is cultivated using advanced technology in greenhouses. Water usage is 90 percent less than normal. Being a modern agricultural country, the Netherlands also attaches importance to organic production.
The use of pesticides, such as pesticides, is almost zero in the country. Drones and driverless tractors are used in many greenhouses and fields. In this way, factors such as the fertility of the soil and the quality of the products can be controlled unmanned. The crop yield from cultivated land in the Netherlands is twice as high as in other countries.

The USA, the world’s number one exporter of agricultural products, has a surface area 270 times larger than this northern European country. With 17 million inhabitants, the Netherlands has 1,300 inhabitants per square kilometre. According to the data, the amount of agricultural products to be produced in the next 40 years will be more than the amount produced in the world in the last 8 thousand years.
